RMG Fridays: HIP-HOPera

April 01, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Mix it up with a hip-hop show and a performance by Jennifer Mizzi (Soprano), and Kristine Dandavino (Mezzo-Soprano), from the Oshawa Opera Association. Legendary emcee Shaheen will be rapping, B-girl Judi Lopez will breakdance, DJ Mark V. Campbell will be demo scratching.

Durham Folklore Storytellers perform as we close the exhibition Their Stories: Unidentified Portraits from the Thomas Bouckley Collection. Celebrate the opening of the Durham College Thesis Exhibition: 10 Emerging Visions in Gallery A and meet ArtLab resident Ruth Read.

Paul Paget (Praxis) will be teaching us about the roots of graffiti art and working with guests on a collaborative art project in the studio. Watch a short documentary of opera in our Fridays Film Features screening room. Bring your used crayons and donate them to Crayons for Change. The City of Oshawa will also be launching their “Our Oshawa” Campaign.On the first Friday of the month, join the RMG in celebrating local talent. The gallery buzzes with live musical performances, interactive art experiences, open gallery spaces, social mingling and more. Suitable for music lovers, youth, families, date nights, and culture-vultures.

In Friday Film features we will be screening a short documentary by Sarah Caldwell entitled A Taste of Opera and an experimental animation by Zack Berwick entitled Lucid.

Enjoy Artisanal Focaccia 3 Ways by Maddie and Kiki! Parmesan and Mediterranean Herb, Tomato and Home-Preserved Olive and Prosciutto and Roasted Red Pepper. All wedges are $5.
