We’re excited to announce the RMG’s sixth edition of FIRST FRIDAYS!

July’s  First Fridays is on a special date and time: July 8th. The party kicks off at 5pm with the opening reception for the gallery’s two new exhibitions, FIERCE and Geordie Lishman: Hidden Worlds. At 6pm Boom Bust & Echo will perform, followed by singer-songwriter Kate Boothman at 7pm. Cash bar and free to attend. Party continues until 9pm!

Lakeridge Health Request for Proposals

Today we received information that Lakeridge Health Oshawa is seeking proposals for a mural in the new paediatrics department. Have a look below at all the details from LHO.

Building Today for Excellence Tomorrow

Lakeridge Health Oshawa (LHO) has a longstanding commitment to provide the best, most sensitive care to children in our community and across the Durham Region. As a designated Children’s Healthcare Centre, the Hospital provides many advanced services for newborns, infants, toddlers through to teens.  The current redevelopment and expansion project will increase the square footage of the existing Paediatrics space – increasing the number of beds so more children can get the care they need when they need it. Once completed, the Paediatrics Department will be newer, brighter and offer a more family-centered environment that is welcoming to patients, families and visitors.

Family-centered care has many benefits and is based on the understanding that family is the child’s primary source of strength and support.   This ultimately has a positive impact on parent and child, encouraging quicker recovery time and increasing the Hospital’s ability to meet our community’s paediatrics and surgical needs closer to home.

The Oshawa Hospital Foundation is soliciting through the Fair and Open Process for “Request for Proposal” (RFP) for the Paediatrics Program at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

RFP for Murals for Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Paediatrics Department

Oshawa Art Association Juried Show

Juried Art Exhibitions offer artists an opportunity to show their work in a gallery and have their work reviewed by an impartial group of judges. Often this results in awards like “Best in Show” or “Best Drawing” and the awards are presented with prizes. Artists can use these awards on their artistic resumes, gaining momentum in their careers. Many artists use juried shows to make contacts, meet other artists, seek commissions and exand their audience. Some use it just to get used to their work being publicly shown.

This Thursday the Oshawa Art Association Juried Show opens here. Awards and celebration of the show start at 7pm. This show has been happening for over 40 years, and includes Oil, Watercolour and Acrylic Painting, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Original Prints and Drawing. New this year is a “People’s Choice” award selected by ballot.

Other Juried shows in the Durham area include the PineRidge Arts Council Juried Show and the Uxbridge Arts Association Juried Show.

Below are some snapshots from last year’s juried show!
