Beauty in the Brokenness
As an artist, there are a lot of things I’m interested in exploring. So far, I’ve been focusing on the human experience, darker emotions and themes, trying to pull out the seams of beauty in the brokenness of our world. I don’t really know where I’m going with it yet, or what I’m trying to say with my work, except that I want to connect with my audience in some way. And I want to paint something real, something beautiful and emotional to share with them. More than anything, this work is explorative. It’s changing as I’m changing, and it’s still not finished.
These pieces are all based on people I don’t know. But there are parts of their stories that I can identify with personally. In light of everything going on in the world right now, each portrait is a reflection of my own unique experience with fear, grief, joy, and hope in hopeless circumstance.
