The RMG Youth Action Arts Council (YAAC) is a group of youth ages 13-17 who work together to share insightful ideas, enact creative decision-making, and collaborate on duties within a professional gallery space. The RMG is seeking passionate and involved youth to join in this exciting opportunity.

About the RMG YAAC
Youth gather on select Wednesday evenings to conduct meetings, complete assigned tasks, and engage in council activities. This may include collaborating with community partners to strengthen gallery relations and their own networking skills, filming social media content, developing creative hands-on art activations to engage the public, and more. Through this council the youth will lead with curiosity, as they grow their skills in planning, time management, team work, administration, and leadership.

Garden Party with the Oshawa Garden Club
At this event, the RMG YAAC engaged with the public through delivering a hands-on workshop for all ages. Council members were able to hand-paint a mural, draw their own designs for activations, and taught visitors all about local pollinator plants and the pollinators attracted to them. Youth highlighted the importance of native plantings, and impactful gardening.

Who can sign up?
Youth age 13-17 can sign up with guardian permission. We ask that youth participants who register for this opportunity will bring home the consent form and other documents from the handbook for them and their guardian to sign after their first day in attendance.
Do I need to attend all the sessions?
Youth must attend 70% of sessions to get the most out of the program and to feel most engaged. We will not schedule sessions during exam times to allow for focus on school as well.

What if I sign up halfway through the semester?
Any session can be your first session! Orientation to our space will be done on a regular basis and the sessions are packed with new information so you can come join, hang out and learn what we’re all about anytime. Ensure you sign up to receive emails and up-to-date information regarding meetings.
What is Teen Art Zone?
Participants of the RMG Youth Action Arts Council are invited to participate in our free artistic workshops. In this program, participants create art in a relaxed environment. Learn more here.
Where do I go when I arrive at the gallery?
The sessions take place at various spaces in the gallery. Please check in with the front desk staff/security upon arrival for direction on where the council is meeting that day.
