The Robert McLaughlin Gallery (RMG) is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer as it prepares to celebrate 60 years of impact in 2027. Alix Voz will conclude her tenure as CEO on December 1, 2026, to prioritize her move to Ottawa.
“I have loved my time at the RMG and being part of this community,” says Voz. “With my move to Ottawa becoming a personal priority, I know I cannot offer this role the presence and engagement it deserves from 400 kilometres away. This place is incredibly special, and much as I wish I could stay, I want to make space for someone who can be fully present for the Gallery and its community.”
This transition comes at a meaningful moment for the RMG. Its anniversary is an opportunity to honour the artists, supporters, and community members who have shaped the Gallery while building momentum for its future. With a dedicated team, a significant collection, and growing opportunities in education, arts and wellness, and community partnerships, the RMG is positioned to expand its reach and deepen its impact.
“I strongly recommend this opportunity to a passionate leader who wants to guide a gallery that is a driving force for arts and culture in its community,” says Voz. “The RMG brings artists, ideas, and people together, creating opportunities for connection and making art part of everyday life. Oshawa has a growing appetite for a rich creative culture, and the Gallery is central to that momentum. Our 60th anniversary offers an exciting moment for the next leader to build on this impact and help shape what comes next.”
“There is room here to grow, to try thoughtful ideas, and to work with people who believe in the power of art,” Voz adds. “I am so proud of the work we have done together and grateful to the staff, Board, artists, partners, and supporters who make it possible. I will be the RMG’s biggest long-distance fan, cheering on the team and looking forward to seeing the Gallery’s role in our communities’ care and wellbeing continue to grow.”
The CEO posting will be available under Opportunities on the RMG website. As outgoing CEO, Voz also welcomes questions from prospective candidates who would like to learn more about the role, the Gallery, and the opportunities ahead.
